Avian diversity in a fragmented landscape of central Indian forests (Bhopal Forest Circle)

چکیده
With increasing fragmentation of natural areas and a dramatic reduction forest cover in several parts the world, quantifying impact such changes on species richness community dynamics has been subject much concern. Therefore, this study intends to assess avifaunal biodiversity fragmented forests. Forest patches between sizes 10ha 700ha were identified Bhopal Circle (BFC), which covers Vindhyan plateau. classified based their size degree isolation. A sample 21 fragments was selected using proportional sampling. Bird surveys conducted point count method at each site. Three replicates taken Avian patch calculated. The results suggest that is positively associated with patches. Larger as Binapur (166ha, Chao 1= 73), Sayar (107ha, 78) Kalyanpura (133ha, 80) had relatively high richness, except for including Narsinghgarh (393ha, 28) Singota (184ha, 45) levels anthropogenic disturbance. Smaller found have fewer bird species, although small lesser degrees disturbance Lalghati (99ha, 1 = 62), Lasudli (16ha, 65), Ghot (36ha, 53), Nasipur (23ha, =52) more diverse than other These protected due being sacred groves (Lalghati Lasudli) or under private ownership (Ghot Nasipur). total 131 recorded from all sampled embedded an agrarian landscape play vital role conserving biodiversity, hence conservation efforts should also be focused these fragments.

Avian life-history determinants of local extinction risk in a hyper-fragmented neotropical forest landscape
The fact that species vary in their vulnerability to extinction is well documented, but the reasons for these differences remain poorly understood. Why should some species/families/guilds decline rapidly with increasing anthropogenic disturbance, while others either tolerate or proliferate in disturbed habitats? We investigated the bird species composition in 31 primary forest patches of varying...
متن کاملDeterminants of diversity in a naturally fragmented landscape: humid montane forest avifaunas of Mesoamerica
We used a published data set summarizing avifaunas of 31 montane patches of humid forest in Mesoamerica to analyze avian distributions with respect to site characteristics. This forest type was originally widespread in the lowlands, and became restricted to mountains during Pleistocene climatic changes. Hierarchical partitioning, a recently developed regression procedure, was used to examine in...

Terrestrial isopods were collected in 13 forest fragments differing in area (within the range of 0.1 and 254.5 ha), shape and composition of forest vegetation (thermophilous oak, mesophilous oak-hornbeam, thermophilous oak-hornbeam, acidophilous oak, basiphilous oak, beech oak-hornbeam, moist mixed deciduous forest, plantations of deciduous and coniferous trees), all situated in the Český kras ...
متن کاملThe Influence of Forest Management Regimes on Deforestation in a Central Indian Dry Deciduous Forest Landscape
This research examines the impact of forest management regimes, with various degrees of restriction, on forest conservation in a dry deciduous Indian forest landscape. Forest change is mapped using Landsat satellite images from 1977, 1990, 1999, and 2011. The landscape studied has lost 1478 km2 of dense forest cover between 1977 and 2011, with a maximum loss of 1002 km2 of dense forest between ...
متن کاملChanges in Tree Reproductive Traits Reduce Functional Diversity in a Fragmented Atlantic Forest Landscape
Functional diversity has been postulated to be critical for the maintenance of ecosystem functioning, but the way it can be disrupted by human-related disturbances remains poorly investigated. Here we test the hypothesis that habitat fragmentation changes the relative contribution of tree species within categories of reproductive traits (frequency of traits) and reduces the functional diversity...
